VerdeOeste were engaged on this project a very early stage when our American client was still looking for a villa to renovate. We were happy to assist and provide advice to our client in their research and selection — culminating in the purchase of land for a new-build in Guia, Cascais.
Once the land was bought we started to support our client through the next phase: identifying an architect to design their home. Our clients’ ambition to have a modern and perfectly located villa, full of light, as their private residence was a perfect challenge for us.
Based on our local knowledge and extended network, VerdeOeste introduced five architects to our American clients and initiated an open competitive tender process. The guidelines, architectural tastes & references were given by the client and each of the shortlisted architects worked on proposals.
In the end, our clients opted for João Botelho & Miguel Oliveira, Gabinete de Arquitectura — two Portuguese architects whom they best felt understood and addressed their aspirations.
We are now supporting our clients throughout the project’s next steps, working as employers’ agents.
Several services will be provided, particularly regarding the monitoring of the definition of a fully detailed specifications document, and the detailed design project for licensing and procurement. Additionally, our support extends through the open competitive tender for the works and client representation during negotiations with the contractor, with the aim of ensuring cost efficiency and program quality.
